ABOUT THE DESIGN

A Koi Fish will grow to the largest size possible for its container and remain that size for its lifetime. The analogy to humans always fascinated me. One day, inspiration struck me as I cleaned out my daughters’ cabinets; the old nail polish encapsulated in glass looked so similar to the scales of a Koi Fish.

As to the rest of it, my father was a stained glass artist, and for some odd reason, when he passed, I kept all of his blue glass. I’d carried his glass around for thirty years without a purpose. This project was the perfect ultimate use. When his glass ran out, I learned to melt blue bottles to fill in the remainder.
