ABOUT THE DESIGN

The Family of Woman depicts the female members of a family. Each of the portraits was made from a life mask of the artist, Shelly Buscher, and each has a different theme.

Shelly is shown center as a Green Woman a legendary symbol of re-birth. Shelley used this same theme in an Art Car with great success.

As you look at the portraits you’ll see a red haired figure who loves animals, a flower be-decked woman who loves gardening, a face with playing cards and bingo illustrating the woman’s love of cards and games, another features a face on a teapot for a collector, and near the top a woman with her hair standing on end who enjoys scary movies and stories, amongst others. Look carefully to see others depicted in a painterly fashion that is very difficult to accomplish in mosaic.
